ดร.เด่น อยู่ประเสริฐ (นักเปียโน, นักประพันธ์เพลง, และวาทยกร) ศิลปินศิลปาธร ดร.เด่น อยู่ประเสริฐ สำเร็จการศึกษาระดับปริญญาตรี สาขาการแสดงเปียโนแจ๊สจาก วิทยาลัยศิลปะคอร์นิช ปริญญาโทสาขาดนตรีแจ๊สศึกษาจาก มหาวิทยาลัยนอร์ทเทกซัส และปริญญาเอก สาขาการประพันธ์เพลงและการสอนดนตรีแจ๊สจาก มหาวิทยาลัยนอร์ทเทิร์นโคโลราโด ประเทศสหรัฐอเมริกา ศึกษาเปียโนแจ๊สกับ รศ.เดนา แลนดรี, ศ.แดน ฮาร์ลี, ศ.เดวิด แพก, และ ศ.แรนดี ฮาเบอร์สแตดท์ และศึกษาทางด้านการควบคุมและกำกับวงกับ ศ.ดร.แคนแนท ซิงเกอร์ตัน และ ศ.นิล สเลเตอร์ และศึกษาด้านการประพันธ์และการเรียบเรียงดนตรีกับ ร.อ.ต. ศ.(พิเศษ) ดร.แมนรัตน์ ศรีกรานนท์, ศ.ดร.อีวาน คอปลี, ศ.ดร.จีน เอท์เคน, ศ.ปารีส รัทเทอร์ฟอร์ด, ศ.เจมส์ แนบ, และ ราฟ ทาว์เนอร์

            อาจารย์เด่นได้รับรางวัลระดับชาติและนานาชาติ อาทิ รางวัลหลุยส์อาร์ม สตรอง, รางวัลนักเปียโนยอดเยี่ยม จากเทศการดนตรีแจ๊สที่ วิทยาลัยซานดิเอโก และเทศการดนตรีแจ๊สไลโอนิล แฮมตัน, รางวัลนักดนตรียอดเยี่ยม จากเทศการดนตรีแจ๊สที่เมืองวิชิทา และเทศการดนตรีแจ๊สที่เมืองกรีลี, รางวัลการประพันธ์เพลงเดล ไดคินส์, รางวัลดาวน์บีทสำหรับวงดนตรียอดเยี่ยม, รางวัล คมชัดลึก อวอร์ด สาขาเพลงบรรเลงยอดเยี่ยม และ รางวัลศิลปาธร สาขาดนตรี จากสำนักงานศิลปวัฒนธรรมร่วมสมัย กระทรวงวัฒนธรรม

ด้านการแสดงดนตรี ได้ร่วมแสดงกับนักดนตรีแจ๊สที่มีชื่อเสียง เช่น เดวิด ลิปแมน, นิโคลัส เพตัน, มาเรีย ชไนเดอร์, บอบ บรุคเมเยอร์, เดโบรา บราวน์, เคนนี เวียเลอร์, ไมค์ สเติร์น, คริส มิน โดกี, ยอริส ทีป, และ เบนนี โกล์สัน เป็นต้น และได้รับเชิญให้ร่วมแสดงดนตรีแจ๊ส ในเทศการดนตรีนานาชาติต่างๆทั้งในและต่างประเทศด้านการประพันธ์เพลงและการเรียบเรียงเสียงประสาน มีผลงานการประพันธ์เพลงสำหรับวงดนตรีแจ๊ส วงออร์เคสตรา วงเชมเบอร์ และบทเพลงสำหรับเครื่องดนตรีอื่นๆหลายบท

ด้านการศึกษา เป็นผู้บุกเบิกการเรียนการสอนดนตรีแจ๊สในระดับปริญญาตรีและโท ในประเทศไทย เคยดำรงตำแหน่งเป็น รองผู้อำนวยการฝ่ายวิชาการ และวิเทศสัมพันธ์ และหัวหน้าสาขาวิชาดนตรีแจ๊ส ที่ วิทยาลัยดุริยางคศิลป์ มหาวิทยาลัยมหิดล และเคยสอนดนตรีที่มหาวิทยาลัยนอร์ทเทิร์นโคโลราโด ประเทศสหรัฐอเมริกา

ปัจจุบัน ดำรงตำแหน่งเป็นคณบดีวิทยาลัยดนตรี มหาวิทยาลัยรังสิต เป็นผู้อำนวยเพลงวงดุริยางค์ซิมโฟนีแห่งมหาวิทยาลัยรังสิต และเป็นโปรดิวเซอร์ สังกัดบริษัทจีเอ็มเอ็มแกรมมี่

สำหรับการนำวง Denny Euprasert Septet ใน Mahidol International Jazz Conference ดร.เด่น อยู่ประเสริฐ จะร่วมแสดงกับเปียโนกับคณาจารย์สาขาวิชาดนตรีแจ๊สจากมหาวิทยาลัยรังสิต ได้แก่ ช้างต้น กุญชร ณ อยุธยา (กีตาร์), ธีรัช เลาห์วีระพานิช (แซกโซโฟน), เกรียงไกร สันติพจนา (ทรัมเปต), สิรภพ สิทธิ์สน (เบส), ขวัญชัย สังข์วิจิตร (กีตาร์) และ ณภัทร พิริยกิตติ์ศรันย์ (กลอง)

 DR. DENNY EUPRASERT (Pianist, Composer, and Conductor)

Recipient of the Silpathorn Contemporary Artist Award 2009, Dr. Denny Euprasert received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Jazz Piano Performance from Cornish College of the Arts, a Master of Music degree in Jazz Studies from University of North Texas, and a Doctor of Arts degree in Music Theory and Composition with a secondary emphasis in Jazz Pedagogy from University of Northern Colorado, USA. 

Denny studied jazz piano with Dan Haerle, Dana Landry, Dave Peck, and Randy Halberstadt, studied conducting with Dr. Kenneth Singleton and Neil Slater, and studied composition with Manrat Srikaranonda, Dr. Evan Copley, Dr. Gene Aitken, Paris Rutherford, James Knapp, and Ralph Towner.

He has received numerous awards including Louis Armstrong Jazz Award, IAJE Outstanding Piano Soloist Award from San Diego City College Jazz Festival and Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival, IAJE Outstanding Musicianship Award from Wichita Jazz Festival and Greeley Jazz Festival, Del Dykins Composition Award, the Downbeat Student Awards, Kom Chad Luek Award, and the Silpatorn Contemporary Artist of the Year Award from the Ministry of Culture. 

He has performed with David Liebman, Nicholas Payton, Maria Schneider, Bob Brookmeyer, Deborah Brown, Kenny Wheeler, Mike Stern, Chris Minh Doky, Joris Teepe, Benny Golson, Cornish Jazz Orchestra, Bremerton Symphony Orchestra, Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra, UNC Jazz Lab Band I, and Bangkok Symphony Orchestra.

Recent festival appearances as a leader include headlining at the Bangkok Jazz Festival, the Hua Hin Jazz Festival, and the Taichung Jazz Festival in Taiwan.  Other festival appearances include the Bellevue Jazz Festival, Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival, Wichita Jazz Festival, and Greeley Jazz Festival. 

His CD “Masterpiece Asanee Wason” received the Kom Chad Luek Award for Best Instrumental Album 2008.  The album features unique jazz arrangement of Asanee-Wason Music.  His latest CD “’S Wonderful: A Jazz Standard Project” is released under the GMM Grammy Record Label. 

He has composed numerous works for piano solo, piano and orchestra, chamber groups, chorus, jazz ensemble, jazz orchestra, voice and piano, and contemporary media.

He was the Director of Jazz Studies and the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs at Mahidol University College of Music and has taught at the University of Northern Colorado School of Music.
